There are always some Rollercoasters...

Some time ago, 2003 to be precise, Mike & Ute Young opened up Musicworks Studio, a recording studio in Montgomery, NY.

Their first band to venture through the doors happened to attend a little (looking) church just down the street and, seeing as how they were between churches, they encouraged them to attend.

Shortly thereafter, they, and their young daughter, found themselves a part of the worship community there at that church and with that came some new friendships. Amongst those were to Greg and Doreen Munkelt.

The four would play together from that day on in many different ways.

The Young’s had met a man by the name of Andy Kaartine back in the 90’s and through a bunch of twists and bend, he wound up becoming their drummer and acted as such for six great years.

During that time they also recruited another drummer who became the second guitarist in the band, Brett Vance.

Members come and members go; it’s the seasons in our lives. Well the bass player and keyboardist in the band had needed to focus on other pursuits which left a void. That void, through Andy’s help, was efficiently filled with the aid of Dom and Beth Crescimanno.

Once the two came on it was a full-band sound with harmonies and years of musical experience all rolled into one.

However, due to unforeseen and most tragic events, the band’s drummer, Andy, was killed.

This left a void. Fortunately, there was one person in the band that knew the music well enough and had the talents to fill that empty space and that was Brett.

As a professional level drummer, but feeling some reservations, he stepped up into the role. However, he had been quite a crucial member on guitar, allowing Mike to have more “hands-off” time for ministry.

Shortly thereafter, in a different twist, Mike & Ute were called back to that little (in appearance) church they had begun attending back in 2003 as music directors in one of their branch campuses. It was there that their relationship with Bill Arlequeeuw grew closer until the point where they asked him to step into the second guitar role.

It was quite a daunting task to come into for Bill, seeing how the band had giG’s already lined up and that he had other work and church commitments to fulfill.

Still, they pulled it all together, and it was working quite well, until a world-wide incident forced them into self-imposed isolation.

Still the band rehearsed privately and has been able to once again minister at so many event in the summer of 2021 and are looking forward to as many upcoming events as possible!
